Trend Watch - DOE EYES VS. SIREN EYES
If you’ve been on social media lately, there’s a high chance you’ve stumbled across the Doe Eyes vs. Siren Eyes trend. Usually set to one of TikTok’s trending songs, users display half of their face as an example of having eyes that resemble that of a doe (soft, demure, and almost childlike) before cutting quickly to the other half of their face, where eyes appear siren-like (sensual, enchanting, and calculating). This trend is usually done with two different makeup looks, showing the versatility of the user’s makeup skills and how the simple act of changing one’s eye shape may attract different types of attention and attraction.
The Doe
Our pick for the celebrity makeup that best embodies the Doe look is Lily-Rose Depp's go-to red carpet look: bright, wide eyes with doll-like eyelashes and a brush eyeshadow on the lid. It’s an ethereal, effortlessly feminine, and altogether timeless look that we’ve been obsessed with. If you’d like to try this look, reach for a white eyeliner pencil for your waterline to make your eyes appear that much wider, a natural-colored mascara that can be applied smoothly, and a brown eyeliner for a slight wing. Add warmth to the look like Lily-Rose by applying rose-toned eyeshadow to the lid.
The Siren
Our celebrity-go to for this look is none other than Alexa Demie, one of the leading ladies of HBO’s hit television series, Euphoria. While her character on the show, Maddy Perez, rocks bold, graphic eyeliner, gem-stones, and sparkles whenever she gets the chance, Alexa Demie seems to lean a little more towards a classic Siren look with long, flirty lashes and winged or cat eyeliner. If this is more your look, try using a bold, pigmented, liquid eyeliner to tight line and create the perfect wing or cat eye, adding a few coats of black mascara for flirty eyelashes, and blending your smoky eyeshadow to perfectly line up with that bold eyeliner look. Finish things off with a groomed brow, and you’re ready to go!
We can’t decide which eye look we’re more in love with. Do you think you’re more of a Siren or a Doe?
