NIGHTLY ROUTINE
Self care: an all important part of our nightly routine. Or at least it should be. For many of us with a busy lifestyle, taking time for self care can be difficult. That being said, making time to take care of yourself is necessary to living a balanced lifestyle. That’s why we like to indulge in a “self care hour.” You can incorporate so many things into your routines but there are a few that I suggest to really get that fresh and relaxed feeling.
Workout
I love to work out before bed because it allows you to sweat out all of your energy and it makes you feel amazing. It doesn’t have to be anything strenuous, but about 10 minutes can go a long way if you do this routine each night. Yoga is always relaxing, and is a great way to get a workout in.
Shower
Showering right after working out is key, because who wants to get into bed dirty? You can just take a basic shower, or even an everything shower, incorporating a body scrub and shaving to lengthen or add to your self care routine.
And if you’re looking for more relaxation, a bath might be for you. I suggest lighting a candle, adding some bubbles, and if you really want to relax, a glass of wine might be a nice touch.
Skincare Routine
Washing your face outside of the shower is important as your pores are already open and you can really scrub any left over dirt off from the day. After washing your face, it is super important (even though it sounds intense) to use cold water to close your pores. After you do that, a toner and moisturizer can really make you feel so refreshed. Speaking of “fresh”, I love Fresh’s Rose & Hyaluronic Acid Deep Hydration Moisturizer. You don’t need much of this product as the smallest amount will spread onto your entire face. I also usually enjoy using Mario Badescu’s Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater. Not only does the thyme within the spray enhance skin clarity, but this product overall is hydrating and refreshing.
Brush your Teeth
Brushing your teeth before bed is super important because it gets rid of any leftover residue from what you ate that day between the time you brushed your teeth in the morning.
Apply Lotion
This is something you do not have to do, but I love doing it especially after getting a really good shave in. I love to apply lotion to my body after showering sometimes just for scent. But when you shave and put lotion on to go to bed and you put your legs under the covers, the feeling is silky smooth and oh so luxurious. Tatcha just released a new lotion called Hinoki Body Milk which I have been dying to try since it came out. This product is designed to renew dry skin and relax the mind.
The feeling of getting into bed after completing your self care routine is impeccable, leaving you feeling relaxed, and ready for a good night’s sleep.
