THE MIRROR PALAIS GIRL
The Mirror Palais girl: a beautiful combination of classic Spanish fashion and recent trends, creating an aesthetic filled with romance, culture, and femininity.
Mirror Palais is an up-and-coming designer brand founded in 2019 by Marcelo Gaia. The brand made an astounding impression in their 2022 fall New York Fashion Week show, playing with several themes such as concealment and revelation. What is infamous, however, is the wedding-style dress worn by Cindy Kimberly at the end of the show.
The show was a hit, intriguing audiences to be obsessed with the aesthetic now known as The Mirror Palais Girl. The Mirror Palais Girl is wearing not only the designs of Mirror Palais, but also adores a white color palette, romantic dresses, lots of lace, and combines Spanish culture with American fashion.
“I use my environment to tell my story,” says Marcelo Gaia.
Born of immigrant parents from Brazil, his years consisted of humble beginnings, and a strict household. Among many brands, Mirror Palais is especially praised for its true celebration of Spanish culture as opposed to the appropriation of it. The “Clean Girl” aesthetic, for instance, has gotten much backlash for taking Hispanic beauty trends that were once ridiculed, and reinventing them as “cool” or trendy. Gaia designs pieces with inspiration such as the Latino tradition of wearing white for good luck, the Huipil for its ruffles and silhouette, and the use of lace typically seen in a Mantilla.
Overall, Mirror Palais is an amazing celebration of the female form and Spanish culture, designing timeless and unique pieces. “However shocking or new [our designs] may be, they’re always very wearable,” says Gaia in a Harper’s Bazaar interview. Now worn by Bella Hadid, Ariana Grande, Kendall Jenner and Emily Ratajkowski, Mirror Palais has solidified its iconic presence as one of the “it” brands of the decade, and a celebrity darling.
