RESURGENCE OF GOTH FASHION

Monday's child is fair of face, Tuesday's child is full of grace, Wednesday's child is full of woe

With the major hit of Netflix’s show, Wednesday一 we have seen a major resurgence of goth fashion but with a different taste this time. Goth fashion has always been a popular subculture of the fashion industry, the only difference is that it has combined itself with other trends that we are going to see in the foreseeable future of Spring 2023.

Want to embrace the darkness of goth fashion, go for the iconic palette that is the clear definition of goth fashion一wear darks.

How to style:

Trend #1: Asymmetric hems

Shorter hemlines, unbalanced angles, and draping of fabric are all that you can expect from this trend. Pairing it with the current trend of goth fashion is an easy mix, opt for a skirt that has an asymmetric hemline一could be midi or mini depending on your choice. If a bottom choice is not your cup of tea, go for a top that has more of a neutral asymmetrical hem.

Trend #2: All about the Collars

The trend of collars has been a major part of the trend cycle for the past year and it is still stronger than ever. We can expect the trend to move onto outerwear and it would have the inclusion of faux fur. For this trend, you want to be able to branch out towards a more exaggerated collar for your everyday top. Or possibly, choose a fun collar for your everyday midi dress

Trend #3: Sticking to the Subversive Basics

With every great trend one has the opportunity to stick to basics, but how about a nice play on the subversive side of basics? This trend deals with the mixture of both avant-garde and minimalism, however this time the incorporation of the dark palette. For example, instead of opting for your everyday bodysuit一try a cutout bodysuit that brings an element of sexy chic. Or instead, you can always try a t-shirt that is the clear definition of subversive.

Trend #4:  All about the Ruffs

Ruffles have been one of the most important and fun ways to play up any garment, they are an easy alternative to lacing. Ruffs when mixed with a dark palette, it brings an added flair of antiquity and playfulness. When choosing a garment, opt for a ruffled maxi dress or you can simply revamp a little black dress. Ruffs are also a great addition to any bottom, such as a midi skirt.

Trend #5: Add a Bow

Bows, bows, bows 一are the new hit trend for the upcoming Spring of 2023, they’ve been around for the past year and they now become a part of garments. When playing with the resurgence trend of goth fashion, you can spice it up a bit by choosing a garment that has bows. For example, choosing a fun jacket with the added feature is sure to make you a star of the show. Or, perhaps, you want to spice up your everyday blouse一 because it is easy as one, two, three.
