BOLD LIPS
While the Kardashians have made the nude lip seem like the only option for lip shades, a good bold lip can elevate your glam and be the perfect finishing touch to your next outfit. Pulling out blaring red shades or poppy pinks can be daunting, but don’t be afraid! When done tastefully and strategically, the bold lip can make your next look one remember.
With any lip look, you will want to ensure your lips are ready for makeup. This means making sure to exfoliate any dry skin away and hydrate. With so much attention being brought to the lips, there is no room for flakiness!
Now, think about the outfit you’ll be wearing. In my personal experience, it is good to highlight a portion of your outfit using a bold lip color. For example, if you wear an all-black ensemble with red shoes and a red handbag, a red lip would be the perfect finishing touch to tie everything together. What you want to steer clear from is a monochrome moment: If you’re wearing an all-red outfit and choose to pair it with bold red lips, this may seem a little overkill.
I also tend to keep my makeup slightly simpler to highlight the lips when wearing a bold lip. I will choose more neutral shades for the eyes and keep things light. Full glam with a bold lip comes off as costume-like and less chic.
