CITIES OF LITERATURE
The city of love, the city of light, the city of…literature. Paris is known for many things, the beautiful city holds many stories–stories of love, passion, adventure, self-growth, beauty, and the possibilities are endless. The way that Paris holds these tales, whether real or fictional, makes it a city of literature.
Walking down the River Seine, one can imagine themselves in a storybook. The romance of the center of Paris–the sparkle of the Seine, the Eiffel Tower standing tall in the background, the Musee D’Orsay ready to explore, the Love Lock Bridge waiting to be crossed–all of these factors create a beautiful setting for a storybook. As I, myself, walked this exact walk while noticing those romantic views, I noticed how many booksellers were lined up on the River Seine. I stopped at a book stand and let my hand graze over the book spines until I stopped on a book that matched my nail polish, picking it up I realized it was written in French and I wouldn’t be able to understand it, but I wondered if it was a story of the romance that Paris induces.
I stopped my walk by entering a cafe. I ordered a croissant and a cappuccino while finding a seat facing the window. My Satin Lipstick stained the edge of the coffee cup while I began reading the book I was carrying around with me. Finishing my croissant and cappuccino, I closed my book and looked up to see that the Shakespeare and Company bookstore was right across the street. I ventured across the street to enter the most amazing world of books. Books of all sorts crowded each floor, and the use of phones was not allowed which encouraged me to completely engulf myself in finding the right book while also taking in the beauty of the city of literature.
