WEARABLE ART GALA 2022: OUR FAVE LOOKS

As if this year’s fashion weeks didn’t give us enough iconic looks, the 2022 Wearable Art Gala gave us even more. The gala aims to raise money for Tina Knowles-Larson’s WACO Theater Center, which aims to provide artistic and youth mentorship programs.

This year’s theme was “Harlem nights,” and the guest list absolutely killed 1920s inspired attire. Some of the attendees included Kelly Rowland, Lori Harvey, Issa Rae, and Halle and Chloe Bailey. Here are some of our favorite looks:

Lori Harvey

Anything Harvey wears looks absolutely stunning on her, but her lilac, shimmery embroidered gown was unlike anything we’ve ever seen. The wrap-around neck piece was incredibly unique and elegant, and it gave the silhouette of the dress a gorgeous flow. This shade of purple really made Harvey’s skin tone glow, and her hair was totally giving 20s flapper!

Kelly Rowland

Another amazing dress shade choice, Rowland looked stunning in a fiery red ball gown paired with black elbow-length gloves (a huge trend right now) and diamond accessories. She kept her makeup neutral and smokey and complimented the dress with a matching red lip

Angela Bassett

Bassett was straight out of Gatsby with her lime green ensemble. Her look incorporated everything that comes to mind when thinking of the 20s: feathers, ruffles, diamonds, and a matching head piece. To keep everything cohesive, she matched her diamond encrusted heels to a silver glittery bag, and had a wash of green on her lids that was just enough without looking costume-like.

Quinta Brunson

If I were to be plopped back into the 20s, Brunson’s look is exactly what I would wear. Her feather mini dress was so flirty and fun, and the high-neck diamond chain detailing was absolutely gorgeous. What really stole the show was her diamond headpiece made out of huge diamonds that sat delicately on her head. Overall, her whole look was *chef’s kiss*.
