UNWIND

I end my days just as I begin them: by dedicating time to the little things that make life that much more special. From the simple act of completing a full and immersive skincare routine to that of slipping between silk sheets, evenings are made for me to unwind. It’s the little luxuries that truly set my nights apart from energy-filled days consisting of endless plans and limited time for self-care. While I do enjoy life’s hustle and bustle (it always gives you something to aspire to), allowing myself moments of peace is key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Setting an ambiance in which I find myself at peace is crucial to winding down. It gives my body and mind a chance to reconnect. By lighting the candle at my bedside, I bathe the room in a sweet and tangy aromatic blend of blackcurrant berries and rose water. Its scent brings with it memories of sun-filled Sunday mornings spent browsing the open-air farmer’s market on rue Cler in the seventh arrondissement. The candle sets the wall behind it aglow, chasing away the shadows that have so eagerly spread throughout my apartment as the day came to an end.

Next, I move to the bathroom to begin my body care routine. After lighting unscented tea lights, I start the water for a relaxing bath and sprinkle half a cup of my favorite milk bath soak before following it with bubble bath and essential oils. The coconut milk powder and extract from the soak leave my skin feeling soft and hydrated, while the added essential oils awake my senses. Thirty minutes later, I’m out of the bath and tucked into my bed. My skin feels moisturized and ready for a night of much-needed rest.
