Pairing two opposite aesthetics is a huge emerging trend that fashion influencers and celebrities are adopting to add interest and excitement to their style. An easy way to incorporate this into your style is by using the "Wrong-Shoe Theory" coined by stylist and wardrobe consultant Allison Bornstein. This movement encourages the mixing of aesthetics by pairing one aesthetic's shoes with another aesthetic's outfit. Some examples include pairing running shoes with a dress, ballet flats with a sports jersey, and work boots with a pantsuit.

Contrasting Patterns

To embrace maximalism, try mixing patterns that don't necessarily seem to match. This adds excitement, youthfulness, exuberance, and fun to an otherwise dull outfit.
