SWEET TOOTH
If the way to somebody’s heart is through their stomach, the way to mine is through cream cheese frosting.
I see no shame in being indulgent. And there’s absolutely no shame in having a sweet tooth.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a sucker for a cupcake. It has to be just right - light cake melting in my mouth with the perfect ratio of not-too-sweet frosting? I’ve ascended onto another plane. Whether I’m peering through a Parisian windowpane or browsing the case in a Seattle coffee shop, I will never resist treating myself.
I still swear that the best red velvet cupcake I’ve ever had was purchased in the Waterloo tube station and eaten on the Northern line. Buying the treat was an afterthought, I literally did a double-take as I rushed past the stand. With my bag tucked under my arm, I unwrapped it on the escalator ride down.
And I’ll always be an advocate of the kitchen as the perfect space to unwind. Tube station closed? Make your own slice of heaven at home. I love wrapping myself up in the process of baking, letting the practice pull me out of myself and into a product.
Life is too short to hold yourself back. Soak up every luxury, from a high-end facial oil to a lower-end sugar bomb.
If frosting is the true language of love, it’s time to whip some up.
