NOSTALGIC, YET TIMELESS

Oh, nostalgia. We can't seem to let go of the past, can we? We don’t let anything go and stay gone. You know what they say: “trends always come back every 10 years.” But maybe they’re timeless and never go out of style. Trends don’t last so long in this new age, but we always find inspiration from past trends because we love nostalgia.

I know it’s hard to imagine what trends could possibly last longer than two weeks today, but I'm here to tell you that it’s not any recent trends. What’s driving the inspiration for fashion trends today is fashion from the previous ones.

Do you remember headbands? The ones that were quite popular back in the day? Well, guess what? They are back in style again. You might have heard of those headbands that hold your hair back like sunglasses, which were in fashion for a little while. However, now it is all about the broad, chunky headbands again, even the stretchy nylon infinity ones.

I have witnessed the rise and fall of crop tops and the resurgence of longer-form shirts. Apparently, a longer form top that covers your stomach is classy. Who would’ve thought? (I think we all did). I still love a cropped top, don’t get me wrong, but I also love that I can wear a top that I feel comfortable in all night long and not get any weird looks because it’s cool again. And they don't have to be boring just because they’re longer.

Animal prints seem to be making a comeback with the resurgence of indie sleaze style and Ke$ha's performance at Coachella. Just picture a cheetah print skirt paired with a cute band tee and some chunky boots. It's a cute and trendy look that takes inspiration from the early 2000s style. But let's be real, animal prints never really go out of style, so it's a good idea to stock up on them while you can and keep them in your wardrobe for when they come back in fashion again. Thank you, Ke$ha!

I bet we’re going to see all of these trends appear again and again for the rest of our lives and I’ll be here to say, “I told you so.”
