HAWAII COFFEE CULTURE

Food is said to be the universal language of love, but I believe coffee is the unspoken language of humanity. Hawaii is known for many things, but its coffee is not discussed enough, allow me to start the conversation. Hawaii's cafe culture is a town filled with local coffee shops that are not just on every block, they’re practically neighbors. Coffee creations of every kind can be crafted here without fear of competition. Hawaii's cafes are known for their unique espresso drinks, which are not usually found elsewhere.

(All Oahu Based)

Ali’i Coffee:  Ali’i is known for its Taro Ube Latte and unique seasonal beverages, such as; the pumpkin pie latte. You read that right, “pumpkin pie latte,” which has a creamy, rich taste of everyone's favorite fall treat that doesn’t overwhelm you with the taste of artificial pumpkin spice seasoning. It’s autumn in a cup!

Signature Drink: Taro Ube Latte (Iced and Hot)

  • espresso, taro powder, ube extract, steamed milk, sugar

Seasonal Drinks: Pumpkin Pie Latte (Iced and Hot)

9Bar HNL: When you go to 9 Bar you have the chance to experience coffee in a fun new way. Here you can find your traditional cappuccinos, lattes, and americanos but beyond that the drinks are more adventurous. While 9 Bar HNL doesn’t do seasonal drinks, they are always rolling out new beverages for a limited time, right now it's the season of lemon and poppyseed.

Signature drink: Espresso Mule

Seasonal Drink: Limonia Latte (Iced or Hot)

Island Brew:  It’s always exciting to go to Island Brew, especially during the holidays. Both their signature and seasonal drinks are full of fun flavorful notes of espresso and unique syrups.

Signature Drink: Hawaiian Honey Latte (Iced or Hot)

Seasonal Drink: Pumpkin Spice Macchiato

If you find yourself on the island of Oahu, be sure to spot these places and give them a big Aloha! And if you end up on any of the other islands, skip the hotel coffee and give the local coffee shops a chance, you’ll be glad you did.
