HALLOWEEN LOOKS

With Halloween right around the corner, finding the right costume can be hard. With trends that come and go, and costumes that require a lot of pieces, the cost can add up, which isn’t ideal for something you’ll only wear once.  That’s why we’ve compiled a list of costumes inspired by some of our favorite fashionable characters and icons, consisting of pieces that can (and will) get reworn.

Holly Golightly

Otherwise known as “Breakfast at Tiffany's, this is a Halloween classic. Not only is the little black dress forever chic and timeless, but with a croissant in hand, you can guarantee that you won’t go hungry on your night out. To create this look, there are 3 essentials: a little black dress, a strand of pearls, and a tiara. While the tiara may not get worn on an everyday basis, the LBD will surely come in handy.

Mia Thermopolis

Arguably one of Anne Hathaway’s most iconic roles, Princess Amelia Mignonette Thermopolis Renaldi of Genovia is an icon in her own right. Who else would tell a queen to “shut up?” To create this costume, you need a strapless dress, a tiara, long white gloves, sunglasses, and over the ear headphones. While this costume is a little more material intensive, you’ll be sure to stand out in the best of ways.

Black Swan

While Natalie Portman’s portrayal of the black swan was chilling, I couldn’t help but notice how beautiful and eye-catching she looked. This look relies heavily on the makeup, so make sure you have a good liquid or gel eyeliner, although how intense you make it is up to your discretion. With regards to the clothes, a basic sleeveless black bodysuit (an essential in any woman’s closet) and a tutu from a party store or amazon makes this look. Add a tiara, or a feather crown, and you’re ready to go.

Juliet Capulet

Heavily inspired by Baz Luhrumann’s 1996 film Romeo + Juliet, this Juliet costume is a variation on the basic angel look. It could also make a stunning couples costume if you happen to have a knight in shining armor. To create this look, all you need is a simple white dress, and a pair of angel wings and the youthful flush of young love (easily accomplished with a good blush). What ties this look together is the hairstyle that Claire Danes effortlessly wears, a gathering of two strands in the back.
