GRUNGE GLAM

During my childhood, I was always fascinated by the makeup looks that my mom had in her photos. My mom went to high school at the height of the 90s grunge glam, and she embraced it. I forgot about my love for the grunge glam look until I watched Jenna Ortega on Netflix's show Wednesday.

To recreate the grunge glam look, one of the best places to start is the eyes. The key to this makeup trend is bold and dark. The idea of the eyes is to have them dark and smudgy, beginning with the eyeshadow. Unhidden Beauty's Black Marble- 12 Eye Palette provides a unique palette of colors to help create the perfect smokey eye for your look. The next step is a black eyeliner pencil, such as INKcredible Waterproof Gel Eyeliner Pencil by Laura Geller Beauty. After applying the eyeliner, my favorite part is to smudge it a bit to blend it into the eyeshadow and lash line. To finish off the eyes, add a dark mascara. My recommendation is Pat McGrath's Dark Star Mascara.

As for the lips, there are two key elements: lipliner and lipstick, a dark nude or red. For my completed look, I prefer to use Nars Precision Lip Liner, shade Vence. To top off the lip, the shade Pour Toujours in Nars Lipstick.

The resurface of grunge glam has inspired me to try smokey eyes and smudged eyeliner for daytime and nighttime looks. Whether you are new to grunge glam from watching Wednesday or looking at your parents' old photos, this makeup trend is easy to follow.

Grunge glam has become my go-to night-out look, and it'll be yours too.
