FRENCH GIRL MAKEUP

Have you ever been to France? Or do you want to emulate that you have?

You might be asking yourself, what is this so called, “French Girl Makeup”一well darling, I’m here to tell you that it is a makeup style that emulates the sultriness and simpleness of all the iconic french IT girls. This style of makeup only enhances one’s natural beauty to imitate that tousled “look” while being your authentic self. The makeup itself is interchangeable with many makeup products and it is able to be switched from day to night, in an instant. If you want to embrace your inner french girl, here are some simple and minimal steps to follow, to achieve THAT LOOK.

Step 1 - Start off with a fresh base

For this step, you want to make sure that your skin is properly cleansed and moisturized before applying any product. We recommend an added sunscreen to act as a barrier against any harmful UV rays.  Follow this with a hydrating lip-balm to ensure a soft and plump lip ready for a rich color.

Step 2 - Pick your base

The best part about this look? You can amend it based on your needs and your heart's desires without worrying about losing its essence. Whether you’re looking for full coverage or just an added tint, using the right base ensures a radiant glow. For example, a wonderful go-to is a skin tint as it enhances the skin with a light layer!

Step 3 - Conceal & Define

After prepping your skin with a light layer of coverage, the next step is to lightly conceal. A quick tip: if you want to conceal some small blemishes or discoloration, opt for a concealer that's a shade or two lighter than your natural complexion for an added brightening effect.

You can then move onto sculpting the outer area of your face to bring more definition to the outer frame of the face. The best way to achieve this look is with a creme bronzer as it has a buildable formula. You can use the iconic “rule of thumb” that focuses on forming a soft “3” on your cheekbones– think Lily Rose Depp or Vanessa Paradis.

Step 4 - Ready Set & Glow!

The next step after defining your face is to set with the powder of your choice! You can go with a loose powder, compact powder or foundation powder for any additional coverage. To best enhance the definition and highlight, try a highly refined translucent powder as it minimizes extra shine and blurs pores without over mattifying.

From here, you can move onto setting the face with a radiant setting spray that makes everything blend together to form a unified layer.

To top things off,  add your favorite highlighter to the mix to make your skin look like “skin” or more so, think of the “wet sheen” you would get after a natural walk around the infamous French markets.

Step 5 - Brow Up

Ready to level up, or should I say, brow up? For the extra finishing touches,  you want to ensure that your eyebrows are neatly set and you want to go for more of an au naturel look. Think of something sleek with a bit of fluff on the edges, and emulate the fluffy brow look with a dash of a clear eyebrow gel for a softer look.

Step 6 - Rouge Who?

What’s a girl's best friend? Rouge of course, she’ll give you that extra pick-up for your face! Rouge is the best thing to have been invented besides the pain au chocolat, she goes with every look and it is so easy to spice up a look.

To achieve those kissable cherry lips, go for an iconic red lip with your favorite red lipstick or perhaps, a multi-use cream palette that can be used on the lips for that bitten effect or on other parts of your face! Such as, the apples of your cheeks to give you that flush from within or maybe a rosy tint to your eyelids.

Step 7 - Eye See You

The final step to emulate the French sultriness or should I say that, comme ci comme ça attitude?  With the added rosy tint to the eyelids, to further enhance the look– try adding a small winged liner to the edges of your eyes with a pigmented eye pencil and slightly smudge the edge for a more tousled look. To further accentuate the eye a bit more, add a bit more to the bottom of your waterline and slightly smudge it for that iconic sultriness.

Top it off with your favorite lash-lengthening mascara and possibly one with added benefits, such as a peptide-infused mascara

With these combined steps, you are on your way to being one of those french IT girls!

bisous,
