FEMININE CHEEKS

The secret’s out: having soft, supple, and glowy skin is where your skin routine begins but having the rosiest cheeks possible is where it ends. While giving your cheeks a simple squeeze can be enough to raise a subtle color to the skin’s surface can work for some skin tones, it doesn’t work for all. So, how can you achieve the prettiest rouge no matter your skin tone, skin type, or lifestyle? It’s all about finding the right product (and shade) to work for you. As a self-proclaimed blush aficionado, here are some of my favorite ways to make it happen. Here’s to having cheeks so rosy, they rival cherubs.

The Palette

Try something with me! Without bringing your hands to your face, look at yourself in a mirror. Pay attention to its structure and ask yourself these questions: What is your cheekbone placement (i.e. high or low?) Where does light hit you? When applying blush, bronzer, and/or highlighter, where do you tend to place it? What’s your skin type? Once you’ve settled on your answers, the true work begins. It’s time to find the products that will do the best job of enhancing your natural beauty.

The Products

I’ve always been partial to cream blushes. They’re moisturizing, lightweight, and add a touch of color right where you need it. This cream lip and cheek color, from Rose Inc., is one of my go-to’s. It’s also incredibly blendable and buildable: both great attributes for any blush to have. However, I’ve also recently entered the world of liquid blush. Rare Beauty’s Soft Pinch Liquid Blush adds a soft and healthy blush to the cheeks while also being long-lasting and weightless. Add a spritz of setting spray after you’ve finished your makeup, and your blush will stay right where it is. It’s the perfect way to create that “natural blush” look without having to sacrifice your normal makeup routine or comfort.

The Result

Achieving the perfect rosy, feminine cheeks isn’t as big of a challenge as it seems! Words of Elizabeth Taylor said it best: “When a woman stops blushing, she has lost the most powerful weapon of charm.”
