Ahh, Fall. The crunch of leaves beneath your feet, the crisp cool air, and the changing of seasons all come together to create the (in my opinion) best season of all. And as everyone knows, with the changing of seasons comes the changing of wardrobes, switching out your summer dresses for fall knits, and your wedge sandals for knee high boots. But knowing exactly what to wear can be difficult, especially if you’ve been stuck in summer mode for the past few months, so we’ve compiled a list of essentials you should have in your fall closet.

Comfy Sweater

The ultimate symbol of fall is this: a comfy knit sweater. Found in a variety of colors (my favorite being a rich cream) the comfy sweater is a fall essential. Perfect for layering, or wearing on it’s own, comfy sweaters can be styled in many ways, and can fit almost any aesthetic. Style with jeans for a more relaxed look, or a mini skirt and tights to be more preppy.

Boots

Ahhh, boots, perhaps my favorite of the fall staples. Boots are so versatile, as they come in so many shapes and sizes. I personally think that there are 3 essential boots you should have in your closet: ankle boots, knee high boots, and a pair of comfy boots (like uggs). Ankle boots can be paired with almost anything, while knee high boots (essentially riding boots) look good with skirts, and can be worn under or over jeans. Throw on your Uggs with a pair of leggings or sweats for a cozy casual look.

Denim

Dating back to the 17th century and with roots in cowboy culture, denim is now found in almost everyones wardrobe, as jeans are a year round staple. That being said, in my opinion jeans become all the more important during the fall season, as it is perfect jeans weather. Summer is too hot, Winter is too cold, Fall is just right. The wash of your jeans can change the whole vibe of the look, with light wash making it more casual, and dark wash being more formal, but overall you can’t go wrong with a good pair of jeans.

Leather Jacket

The ultimate symbol of cool, a leather jacket is a great addition to your fall closet. Now leather jacket doesn’t necessarily mean a moto jacket, leather jacket could mean anything from a bomber to a blazer, it’s the leather that matters. Leather is a great insulator, and if you get one that’s lined with sherpa, you’re sure to be cozy all autumn.

Tights

Tights can take your skirt from Spring to Fall, and can elevate a look from casual to dressy, as tights tend to make an outfit look more elegant. From sheer to patterned, to brightly colored, you can be sure to find the right tights for you. Pair with a mini skirt and boots for a chic outfit.

Trench Coat

Trench coats, the epitome of timeless elegance. These classic outerwear pieces are a must-have for their versatility and sophistication. From their origins in military fashion to their contemporary presence on city streets, trench coats are the embodiment of style and function. Whether you're dressing up for a formal event or simply strolling through the autumn breeze, a trench coat effortlessly adds an air of chic refinement to your ensemble.
