EXPLORING NATURE

Not everyone is seeking time in the great outdoors and I know sometimes I rarely do, but when I do I explore some beautiful places that feel rewarding when you complete them, such as hiking to find a waterfall.

Although there are a ton of things to do when in the Poconos, I want to showcase my two favorite spots (not far from each other), in case you might want something new to do and explore rather than visiting the slopes.

One hiking spot I got to experience was the D&L Trail which connects from Jim Thorpe to White Haven. I’ve been able to experience both trails, but I have yet to hike to either end only because it takes 7 hours to complete, but for people who are avid hikers, you might want to try it. The difference between each end is that in Jim Thorpe it is a lot of climbing, especially if you’re looking for the waterfalls and for some insight; not even halfway through the hike I was 700 feet above flat ground. The White Haven trail is mainly flat land where people typically bike or walk and it has a path to distinctly follow whereas in Jim Thorpe you can take multiple routes.

If you don’t have anything to wear hiking it is important that you get some clothes that are flexible and comfortable, such as Devon Windsor’s Steele Shorts or their Lorena Bra (sports bra). You might also want to bring a bathing suit, such as Veronica Beard’s Aniston Swimsuit, especially if you’re planning on spending time near a waterfall or in it.

If you choose the Jim Thorpe trail to follow you can also grab a bite to eat at Roadies Restaurant before you make your way home. This restaurant is located at Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe where they also provide live entertainment, weddings, deck parties, and much more. The food is absolutely amazing and as you’re seated they give you a basket of chips to munch on while you wait for your food. If you plan your trip ahead of time you can buy tickets for a live show to enjoy and make your weekend in the mountains memorable.
