FALL HAIR DETAILS

If you followed our New York Fashion week coverage and predictions, you know just how much we love wearable looks that can be incorporated into your everyday style. While we’ll always love a good Mui Mui mini skirt and fluffy brow, we’ve also kept our eye out for hair trends! With the return of Y2K style, we’ve also noticed a return to playful, bold hair accessories added to otherwise sleek, and minimalist styles. So, give your trusty claw clips and scrunchies a break and reach for runway-worthy accessories!

Headbands & Bows

Take a page out of Blair Waldorf’s book and add a headband or bow as the finishing touch to any look. Recently, headbands have made a dramatic return to popularity. In July, Chanel’s Fall 2022 couture show was filled with models sporting delicate black and ivory bow headbands atop their heads. While the French brand has always been known for its affinity for the sweet accessory, seeing a bow on every model was a clear reminder of the trend’s return. I’d even argue that the headband trend has evolved from many of the aesthetics we’ve been seeing over the past year (namely, the sudden rise of Balletcore and modernized Coquette fashion).

Barrettes

These barrettes aren’t your little sister’s! Bold, bejeweled barrettes are back just in time for the fall/winter seasons. We’ve noticed barrettes showing up both on the runways and at red carpet events, often placed visibly around its wearer's face to add a little bit of shine. That’s right -  they’re meant to be seen rather than just serving the purpose of keeping your hair in check. They’re perfect for achieving the perfect, side-swept looks or adding a bit of unexpected glam to your everyday ponytail. Play around with different sizes, silhouettes, and finishes to take your hairstyle to the next level.

Hair Pins

Lastly, be on the lookout for stylish hairpins. Select the right ones, and your hair can be as edgy, glamorous, or classically feminine as you’d like. Like barrettes, use hair pins to draw attention to your face or, if you’re wearing your hair pulled back or up, to the hairstyle itself. Recently, hair pins in eye-catching designs have been everywhere! Our favorite way to use hair pins? Clipped right at the nape of your neck in a chic ponytail.
