CITIES OF FOOD
Traveling in Europe has always been one of the things that I have wanted to accomplish on my bucket list. This summer, I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Spain and Italy and was able to experience the most delicious foods. I was so excited to explore and adventure with all of these different food options that you wouldn't necessarily get in the U.S. From Spain to Italy, the options were endless. The food in Europe was fresh, and the seafood in Spain was delightful.
During my time in Rome, Italy, I made it my mission to try and eat at every pasta or pizza place that I could find. I came across this cute little dining restaurant that was particularly small with one waiter working. I turned to my friend and said this couldn't be that bad; come on, it’s Italy! I looked at the menu, and at first, nothing seemed appetizing to me, but I took it to the best ability to step out of my comfort zone and order something different. I ended up ordering a pasta dish with salmon in it. At first, I had low expectations because this is something that I would never eat in the states, but it ended up being tasty, flavorsome, and rich. I ruined my lip gloss and liner, but it was worth it. Thank god I had brought it in my bag to re-apply for later. After this meal, we NEEDED to get gelato, which Italy is known for! Since I am lactose intolerant, sometimes it is challenging to find dairy-free options that can satisfy my sweet tooth. However, there were a million gelato stands all around the Trevi Fountain. I immediately found mango gelato, which did not have dairy in it. I took one spoonful of it and was in heaven. It was the best gelato I ever had! After a few days in Rome, I left for Madrid, Spain.
When I was back in Madrid, I knew I couldn't end my travels without getting one last good meal in. I decided to go to Plaza Mayor, the best area with good company and many fabulous restaurants. I couldn’t get classic paella with shrimp, rice, and veggies. It was divine! Of course, to end my last evening in Spain. I ended with a Nutella crepe down the block that was flooded with strawberries and bananas. I knew that this crepe wouldn’t be the last Nutella crepe I ate on my Europe trip….. To Paris, I go! To eat my way through Paris’s endless crepes and croissants. Stay tuned….
