MISTAKES SHAPE US

Do you know what the great mystery to life is? Well, it is simpler than you may think. Part of being human involves making mistakes. Those mistakes seem unendurable at the moment, but we eventually find humor later. Whether it’s those occasional slip-ups in romantic relationships, a failing friendship, or that argument with a family member that feels like there’s no coming back from, they’re all a part of life and it’s okay to find the beauty behind the flaws that make us unique.

We often see our mistakes as failures from which no lessons can be learned. No matter how big or small, it can seem like our world is crumbling into pieces and we just have to sit back and watch, like ripping a bandaid off a freshly open wound. We get so desperately attached that we find ourselves spending what feels like our whole lives trying to correct them. Instead of focusing on the millions of reasons why things went wrong, stop and think about how to learn from the mistakes and prevent them from happening in our future endeavors.

Vulnerability is key when making mistakes. It’s okay to admit where we went wrong—in fact, we all must do it. Recognize, apologize, and move on. Most importantly, forgive ourselves, even when it feels like the impossible. It’s hard to prevent the emotional tsunami that comes with each mistake, but instead take a minute to stop, breathe, and know things will all fall into place.

Time does not stop. Life doesn't come back. And we will keep making those mistakes. If life came with a manual book or a list of instructions, maybe things would be easier. But in the end it wouldn’t do us any good because we are all different, with unique stories that make us who we are today. Never should we condemn ourselves for the wrong moves made in the past, but instead work on moving forward. Imperfection is okay. Mistakes are okay. And in the end, we will be okay.
