BEAUTY IN MOTION

I used to believe that beauty took time.

I lived for the hours spent at my vanity each morning, carefully applying an extensive skincare preparation, all the way to that final spritz of long-lasting setting spray.

But just like everyone, I am human and time isn’t always on my side when living out my story.

So I asked myself, can beauty exist in motion?

Exist in a world that craves glamour and luxury, even when life feels anything but that?

I’ve learned my beauty exists through the narrative that defines who I am.

Beauty exists in the shiny, patent-black cosmetics bag, just the right size to fit in my everyday tote.

Before I leave for the day, I fill it with products that make me feel beautiful. Those that accentuate my beauty, but never mask it.

I add my favorite cherry-infused lip oil that ensures the lips will stay hydrated when surrounding my smile.

I never leave behind protective sunscreen to shield my skin from the sun’s rays, even when I could dream of basking in it all day long.

Hand cream is always a must. Today I choose a subtle, yet sweet almond enriched scent, adding necessary moisture to my manicured fingernails.

And I can’t forget a compact mirror to allow for a flawless application, no matter where I may be from one moment to the next.

It’s more than possible for beauty to exist in motion.

It still exists in the times when I am on the go, without those minutes I crave for myself because I am my own definition of beauty. Even in both the best times and the harder ones.

Beauty doesn’t always have to be perfect but encapsulates my raw, unfiltered self.

The self I will never fail to celebrate.

With love,

The VS girl
