Oh, the infamous oversized sweater. The pumpkin spice latte of chilly-weather fashion, and the go-to choice for chic minimalists on a time-crunch. We see you. We adore you. We are so glad to have you back. 

Due to its versatility, the oversized sweater can be paired with practically anything. You can make it the center-piece of the ensemble, or the much-needed toner to calm down your favorite pair of statement earrings. Either way, as we snuggle into the latter half of the Fall term, here are just a few of the current outfit trends you are guaranteed to see out-and-about as we head into the holiday season. 

The Faux Leather Pant Pairing 

One of the best things about 2022 is the readoption of the faux leather pant. Let us all throw out a collective “Thank you” to the 90s, for we are forever grateful. You likely have a pair of black bottoms in your capsule collection already, if not, it looks like the trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, so this is your call to jump on the bandwagon. 

Pair your mocha brown or ink black leathers with a light-colored jumper, or master the monochrome aesthetic and match up. 

If you asked me three years ago whether or not you should sport the French tuck, I would undoubtedly approve, but judging by the streetwear of today’s fashion influencers, I would advise you to hold off. Let your sweater lie naturally, and let your legs enjoy their modelesque moment without having to share the spotlight with a belt buckle.      

Dealing with Denim 

Like plenty of other early 2000’s wardrobe pieces, denim has made a comeback, and it isn’t shy about announcing itself back on the scene. Low-rise has usurped the mom-jean throne, and Britney Spears is probably having a field-day seeing all of these denim-on-denim outfits. 

Quote me on this: The denim long-skirt is alive and well, so be prepared for it to become a staple of Fall/Winter 2022. From Bella Hadid, to Kendall Jenner, Elsa Hosk, and about ten people I passed this morning on the way to my local café, the denim skirt, in all its glory, is a piece you are going to want to keep up with. 

Don’t be shy about adding your jumbo turtleneck to the body-hugging clothing, and if you have the chance to snag a white denim version…can you grab an extra one for this VS girl?    

Match It With a Mini

Mini Skirt? Check. Tights? Check. Boots? Check. This is a crowd-favorite that is sure to survive the apocalypse. It’s the easiest way to look stunningly feminine and classically put-together without spending eight hours doing fashion shows for your dog prior to date-night. 

Grab your softest cable-knit, and let it be the showstopper. I am a true believer that all legs look like million-dollar legs with a strong pair of ultra-thin, sheer tights, so this is a look you are sure to adore.  

Just Add the Boots

See above, but drop the excess. Slip on an oversized– and I do mean oversized– sweater, pair with a statement over-the-knee boot, and voila. You are done. Don’t mess with perfection. To coin a phrase that has taken social media audio reels by storm, “You look good girl, don’t change.”
